Kinsale Fringe Jazz Festival

Guinness Cork Jazz

Billy Crosbie and Friends with special guest Joe Mac on drums featuring at Kinsale Hotel & Spa- as part of the Guinness sponsored Kinsale Fringe Jazz Festival, on Sunday Oct 27th at 1pm. This will probably again be the only Dixieland (or Trad.) Jazz session at the Kinsale Fringe Festival in 2019.

Billy, one of the originators of the Fringe Festival over 20 years ago, is still playing piano mainly in Kinsale and Cork. He will be joined by former members of the original Cork City Jazz Band, namely Michael Lynch (clarinet/sax) and Gerry Walsh (keyboards). The band is playing in Acton’s hotel, Kinsale for Sunday Jazz lunch - for 25 years from 1985 – 2009.

Special guest is Cork’s own legend Joe Mac. Still swinging on the drums in his 80’s. Joe loves Dixieland Jazz and those who remember the show-band era will know that “The Dixies” were originally called “The Dixielanders”. So Joe is back to his great love!

Also, guesting is Paddy Cole’s trombone player Pat McCarthy. Pat is now a regular guest with Billy Crosbie and Friends for the last ten years or so.

Final guests - new young talent(s) bring the average age down quite considerably - are Mick Mullins (trumpet) and Billy’s son Jack Crosbie on guitar.

The band will play lot of the classic Dixie/Trad numbers and will also be featuring songs by the great Louis Armstrong.

Songs: “Ain’t Misbehavin’; “What a Wonderful World”; “Blueberry Hill”; “Bourbon St. Parade”; “Mack the Knife”; “King of the Swingers”; “Saints Go Marching In” and many, many more.
